Generation Z is the youngest active generation in the labour market today. They are the children of late Baby Boomers and early Generation Xers, and in some ways they resemble their parents. In fact, they are also called Zoomers, a term that combines “Boomers” with the letter “Z” referring to Generation Z. Like their predecessors, Millennials were born into the digital age, so they are not only digitally literate, but they are the most digitally focused generation. Members of Generation Z have grown up with full access to the internet and a smartphone in hand, they are undoubtedly more informed than previous generations and interested in what’s going on around them, but they are also introverted and sometimes even detached from reality. Generation Z appears to be ambitious. If we compare their working patterns and behaviour with their predecessors, we can observe more similarities with Baby Boomers than with Millennials in this respect. However, the ambition of Generation Z is not to become rich and powerful, but to earn enough money to live a happy and peaceful life. In a development programme for Generation Z, representatives of this generation can learn a lot and contribute to intergenerational understanding and cooperation. The development programme has been designed to take into account the challenges and gaps of Generation Z as much as possible.
